Pinup Girl Dresses look fabulous on, I’ve learnt… no matter what age you are. Recently, thanks to a considerately life-changing promotion with my firm, my girlfriend and I moved to a new city. Starting all over again with a new house and new people – it was a big ask but she came willingly, saying it was her pleasure to be the woman at his side through such a major change. And with the new job, came the usual ‘meet and greet’ soirées with countless introductions at official functions, to co-workers and fellow managers. We had to attend – after all, it was all about us!
She wore Pinup Girl Dresses… and never have I been so proud to show her off! She looked stunning, almost as if she’d stepped straight from the sexy, yet smoggy, romantic scene in Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart and, well… her. And the thing is - she is only 32! I am still astounded that a woman in her early thirties can get away with wearing pinup girl fashion from the 1950s, for goodness sake. But she did. And it worked.
The Pinup Girl Dresses worked so well, in fact, that nobody looked at me. Oh the men pretended to listen to my wise and witty anecdotes, but I knew all the time they were distracted by her. Did I mention she looked stunning? And the other wives and girlfriends all wanted to ask her where she got her beautiful pinup girl dresses from and how did she make her hair do… that? ‘That’, being the perfect French roll. I knew this as I had witnessed what had seemed endless heated rollers being applied, yanked out in anger, and then re-applied until perfection had been attained. It had taken her all day, but necessary if you wanted to get that natural 50s pinup girl movie star glamour, I was informed.
And if you wear Pinup Girl Dresses, you have to have the appropriate Pinup Girl shoes to match. Testament to that again, Id endured hours of shopping until the mission was complete and the Mary Janes (plural) were bagged and given to me to lug. Then there was the jewellery… and the handbags…and the hosiery… and the …the… Oh god it just went on and bloody on! I was jealous and I’d had enough of all her self-adornment and the beauty regimes that lasted longer than Ben Hur (now there’s a 50s movie I liked). Two weeks into our new life together, in the midst of a heated argument - I told her I hated her and her Pinup Girl dresses… and that frankly my dear, I don’t give a dam!
