Whatever style tread your shoes have on the bottom of them, should make them suitable for the purpose you are wearing the shoes in the first place.  But sometimes we need to be told… we need to have a bit of a nudge towards shoe diplomacy and the correct style tread that goes with whatever situation or task we are undertaking.
 
You should check the style tread you have on your runners.  For example, if you are wearing tennis shoes, the tread on your shoes needs to be specialised for gripping onto the type of tennis court you intend to be playing on.  Not all tennis court surfaces are the same, and therefore not all tennis shoes have the same style tread.  Likewise playing squash, would mean you’d need the correct shoes to enable you to move around a squash court smoothly (and also so you don’t damage the expensive court surface), with the correct style tread underneath.
 
The style of tread on your hiking shoes too, would vary enormously from the style tread you would find on shoes of a more formal nature.  Shoes that you would wear for work, say, would more likely have a style tread suitable for shuffling around on the floor of your typical office.  Probably some sort of harsh tile flooring or maybe those dated carpet tiles if it’s an old building you work in.  Or maybe you are lucky enough to work in one of those lovely sparkly new corporate buildings that seem to pop up over night.  You could pretty much wear whatever style tread or style shoe you like, as long as it was city chic!
 
A clickety-clack style tread for anyone undertaking a career in tap dancing makes sense though!  The tread on these special dancing shoes has tiny little metal pieces built onto the shoe tread so that they make that familiar tappity tap noise while the dancers strut their stuff.  Hopefully they manage to make it sound like there is some sort of dancing skill involved at the same time.
 
You’d have a unique style tread on your shoes if you were a nurse working in a hospital of course.  You can’t clomp round in shoes that have a heavy tread and make a lot of noise.  No!  You need to have a style of tread that allows you to tippy-toe along corridors like Florence Nightingale…or nobody would get any sleep!  And it certainly wouldn’t help patients get well again, listening to you thumping along the ward in your completely incorrect style shoes!
