Rockabilly Dress, 50s Rockabilly Dance Dress, 1950s Dresses
Rockabilly dresses are for cool chicks only. Chicks like me and my roller derby team The City Bombshells. How cool are we! We work hard and we play even harder and when we play, we like to doll up and put on our sexiest Rockabilly dresses to show the boys we can look pretty after all that time in the derby when we look real hard.
Rockabilly dresses haven’t been around that long – about as long as Rock n Roll… around the 50s? That’s the original Rock n Roll – as in Elvis and Johnny Cash. Mix that style of American clothing with the hillbilly Country style and you’ve got Rockabilly. It faded away a bit until a revival in the eighties. Lucky for us huh. It’s just the kind of funky, edgy style my girls love... distinctive and unique – just like us!
Our Rockabilly dresses look awesome with our own special accessories. You can change a look around to suit whatever hot belt buckle or hair accessory you can find. It’s all about owning the look – and making it, well… you. And don’t go thinking that just because we’ve got tattoos over most of our body, that we shouldn’t wear dresses – no way! Rockabilly style suits our tatts… and our awesome hair streaks. Last week at a major derby tournament we all added fluoro pink streaks to our hair – it looked fantastic and the crowd loved it too!
And our Rockabilly dresses just enhanced the look later on. It says who we are. Strong, independent women and we don’t take shit from anyone. This lifestyle isn’t for everybody, we know that… you have to be able to express yourself freely and not give a toss what anybody thinks. You don’t have to be hard core – but it helps, especially when you got taken down in a real tough derby. That’s another thing about Rockabilly dresses – they match our bruises too!
We had a team dinner last week and yes, we wore our Rockabilly dresses and we looked HOT! The restaurant let us be ourselves and ok we got a bit rowdy, but we are all good people at heart. What’s the sexiest and most powerful thing on four wheels? A derby girl standing on one leg! Ha ha that says it all ladies…. Go Bombers!
