Go Go Boots, Retro 60s Boots, Knee High Go Go Boots
Discovering the white knee-high go-go boots in the shop inspired them to decide on the theme for their party. A 60s party for three friends – each turning 20. Get it? Three girls: Milly, Molly and Mandy… all turning 20… makes 60! How clever we are to come up with that, announced Milly. But should they all wear different coloured Go-go boots? Maybe mix it up a little… Milly wears the shimmy sham white pair; Molly wears a psychedelic pink pair, and Mandy a groovy red pair? I love how that all sound so sixties, said Molly. No, let’s make it uniform, Milly said – we are all turning 20… we are all to look identical like it’s a ‘birthday girl only’ kind of thing… they each nodded, although Mandy quite fancied red. She didn’t mention it.
Wearing their white knee-high go go boots was the crowning glory – for their feet! They were Go-go dancers of the sixties… the stars of their very own party! But to look the part they needed to dance like real Go-go dancers should dance. Time to enrol in a dance class, said Milly. We need to do this, agreed Molly. Everyone at the party will be watching us, she said. I’d rather go to the beach, thought Mandy. But she didn’t say anything. They were all friends… had been for years… and they had to match.
Twiggy wore knee-high Go go boots… she was from the sixties – fantastic! Let’s base our look on her, said Milly. We might need wigs for that…Molly had wavy red hair so it was expected she’d say that. Wigs will make us look the same; otherwise the Go-go boots won’t work. But Mandy had just had highlights done in her hair and wanted to show her new look off at the party. That was the point of getting them… but I suppose it doesn’t really matter, she sighed.
Milly’s white knee-high Go-go boots gave her blisters in dance class. I can’t wear these, she sobbed. I will have to wear something else. And the Twiggy wig made Molly’s head itch. I won’t last long wearing that thing on my head all night, she snipped… flicking the wig onto the floor. I’m going as something else.
It was party time and they had to get ready. Milly and Molly looked very co-ordinated in their matching hippy girl costumes. Everything was the same – and they wore bare feet… because that’s what hippy’s do, Milly had instructed. Mandy had the best time of her life that night. Her hair looked fabulous and everyone clapped and cheered when she danced, her own dance, in the funky red knee-high Go go boots.
