Checking out hot club dresses? Well, the best place to do that is in the line for the loo… at the club! I mean, it’s probably the only place in the club that is lit up enough to see properly. And by ‘lit up’ I don’t mean the strobe light thing we are bombarded with on the dance floor… the lights that pulse and flash in every colour ever invented and that just about make you seasick with their bouncing techno franticness. No, I mean proper ‘light bulb’ light that you only find in the toilets. Or perhaps out the front with the bouncers, when you are lining up to get in... there’s good light for perving out there, yes, but at that stage you’re too busy trying to look as sober as possible so they let you in.
Hot club dresses come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Of course they do! How boring it would be if we were all the same. We’d have no one to gossip about or bitch about and we all know how much we like to compete. It worries us that our clubbing dress might not look as sexy or as cute as someone else’s clubbing dress… that we might be found less appealing than whatsername or that, heaven forbid, the hot guys are more interested in that sad slapper over there, than they are in looking at you. That we may loose this unwritten, unforgiving Hottest Club Dress competition, and not look the sexiest kitty cat in the entire club is more than we can bear. God we put so much pressure on ourselves – how can we ever win?
Well, I’ve researched hot club dresses. And I’ve watched a whole bunch of chicks at various clubs, wearing what they think is their hottest club dress… and I’ve come to this conclusion: It’s not what dress you wear; it’s more how you wear it. You know? There will always be someone who is thinner and prettier and have sexier legs or bigger boobs than you. Always. So you may as well work with what you have and just bloody well chill and enjoy yourself.
As far as hot club dresses go, that doesn’t mean not bothering to get dressed up for a night out, or not trying to look your best – no! Quite the opposite, in fact. Taking pride in our appearance and dolling up to attract a mate is part of what makes us human; it gives us goals and makes us stay healthy and look after ourselves. So without sounding too much like a smelly old hippie: maybe it really is what’s on the inside that counts? But hey, even hippies wear dresses – perhaps they should try the feeling of wearing a super sexy hot club dress sometime!
