Hell Bunny Fashion, Hell Bunny Dresses & Clothing
A shop assistant wearing a Hell Bunny pinup girl dress served me in a shop yesterday. It was the Boxing Day sales so the place was bedlam and the queues were horrendously long, but if you wanted to get a fantastic discount… you had to just suffer and wait your turn. While I was waiting, I noticed the girl behind the counter. She had on one of the most uniquely pretty dresses I had seen in a long time. That’s pretty in a nice way – not a ‘taking the piss’ kind of way, as seems to be the way these days.
What was interesting about this Hell Bunny pinup girl dress was that the girl wearing it, was also covered in tattoos. And not the cute, fluttery butterfly kind of tattoos you’d imagine a young shopkeeper girl to have. No, she had tattoos of what looked like devils and demons… with fangs and pretend blood dripping from gashes on their bodies…. skulls with snakes pushing out from eye sockets… and a giant red heart with Celtic crosses and thorns holding it in place, as if taking it all prisoner. Well that was just from my angle at least. Down both her arms, I noted. No attempt to hide it… just out there, for us all to see.
I’d heard about this Hell Bunny clothing range. And others like it. From the UK, it’s like a Punk or Gothic kind of style but with a cute, sexy feminine twist to it. Almost a new alternative, to alternative clothing if you like! And modern day tattoos only enhance the look – almost as if to say: Nothing mainstream about me; I’m edgy and different yet I’m still sexy and pretty.
You could tell it was a Pinup Girl dress initially. On its own, the dress looked like it had stepped straight from the pages of a 1950’s vogue magazine. But on closer inspection, what looked like a pattern of pretty roses on the fabric, turned out to be roses, yes… but roses that were entwined around miniature skulls. I felt myself staring, watching her rush about, but then noted every other person in the line doing the exact same. We were in awe… spellbound with this solitary display of Hell Bunny pinup girl frockness!
I decided then and there – I wanted one. I wanted a Hell Bunny pinup girl dress! I wanted THAT look. The hair, the makeup… all so retro and glamorous… like a movie star from the 50s. Then I wondered how I would handle the tattoo side of it. Christ, I couldn’t even handle a flu jab let alone withstand hours of artistic inking at some tattoo parlor. I paid for my bargains and wondered out of the shop, still in a daze. Then, on the way home I stopped off at Target and bought a new sparkly top instead.
